I'm sorry that I am still not done with the NES GG HANDBOOK. I didn't want to delay it any longer. So, instead I wrote up a beta version of the handbook. This version will have the process of creating 6 digit codes. Why 6 digit codes? Because they are the easiest to create and alter. This beta will show you what to expect in the future. Thank You, LrdRokoL@aol.com reetings! LrdRokol asked me to help him write this handbook so I'm one of the coauthors now. You can probably tell what I wrote from LR by looking for the ()s. Also, LR wrote the %s and I usually ****************** * PART 2: CREDITS * ******************* Writers/contributers to the handbook: LordRokol@aol.com Strato 508@aol.com ******************************** * PART 3: PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE * ******************************** Finding GG Codes is not an easy job. It takes a lot of time and patience. Following the list below will help make your code programming experience more enjoyable. 1. Do not work for more than an hour in finding codes. That is a major cause of stress. If you are going to work more than an hour, take a fifteen minute break for every hour you work on codes. 2. Turn the game music down and play some other music (music you like). Listening to the same tune over and over will drive you crazy. 3. Make yourself comfortable, but not too much. Being too comfortable might cause you to fall asleep! 4. Turn the brightness of your TV down. Looking at a bright screen too long is not good for your eyes. It also puts you to sleep; because your eyes gets tired from looking at a bright screen too long. 5. Have something else to do while you are looking for codes so you don't get bored too fast. 6. Most importantly, do not get mad when you can't find codes...chances are you may have even worse luck. You are a better programmer when you are not mad or stressed. ************************************ * PART 4: SIX IS BETTER THAN EIGHT * ************************************ Right now, I'm going to show you how to create and alter 6 digit codes. There are many reasons why I want you to start with this method. *** Chances of you finding a 6 digit code is 15%. Chances of you finding an 8 digit code is 3% *** Altering a 6 digit code is so easy; more on this later. *** Finding what letters work for each slot is child's play ********************* * PART 5: THE RULES * ********************* Here are a few RULES you must learn. In order for you to start creating 6 digit codes. RULE 1: ------- The alphanumerics of the NES GG are split into 2 groups: Group 1: A P Z L G I T Y Group 2: N V S K U X O E RULE 2: ------- The 3rd slot of a code must always be from "Group 1". RULE 3: ------- 60% of the time, changing Slots 1 and 2 will never change the code in anyway. RULE 4: ------- 90% of all 6 digit codes are "EFFECT CODES". RULE 5: ------- Always use the letter "A" for slots 1 and 2 when creating codes. This way you can see any changes when you try to alter it. ***************************** * PART 6: KNOWING THE SLOTS * ***************************** Now you know what to alter to change a certain effect. The following chart will show you what you should change to what to get a different effect. Character Position What You Can Change It To ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 & 2 Group 1 : A P Z L G I T Y 3 This is split into 2 groups depending on what type of code you want Group 1 ( 6 Digit ): A P Z L G I T Y Group 2 ( 8 Digit ): N V S K U X O E 4 Group 1 : A P Z L G I T Y Group 2 : N V S K U X O E Group 1 is used 70% of the time. While group 2 is used 30%. 5 Group 1 : A P Z L G I T Y Group 2 : N V S K U X O E Group 1 is used 60% of the time. While group 2 is used 40%. 6 Group 1 : A P Z L G I T Y Group 2 : N V S K U X O E Group 1 is used 50% of the time. While group 2 is used 50%. Now, use the chart below to understand what you have to go through to alter slots and the chances of your success in finding new codes. KEY: ---- SLOTS - Means the slots you alter. % that uses - The percentage of people that alters these slots to find new codes. % of success - The percentage of success in finding a code, altering the specific slots. Difficulty - The difficulty of this method, altering specific slots. CHART OF EXPERIENCE ------------------- SLOTS % that uses % of success Difficulty ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 & 2 | 100 | Varies | Varies | | | 3 | 25 | 30 | Average | | | 4 | 30 | 20 | Average | | | 5 | 35 | 20 | Hard | | | 6 | 15 | 10 | Hard ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- *************************** * PART 7: USING THE SLOTS * STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!! *************************** ---------------------------- Sorry guys, but I'm still trying to work on this. But I can give you few tips on what to do for each SLOT. --------------- | SLOTS 1 AND 2 | --------------- The only letters you should only use for slots 1 and 2 are: Group 1: A P Z L G I T Y. Changing it to anything else gives you a 70% chance of a code not working. Due to the nature of 6 digit codes, chances are slots 1 and 2 really can't change a code. The chances of a 6 digit codes being affected by slots 1 and 2 are 15%. If you want to know which codes are affected by slots 1 and 2. All you have to do is: 1. Change slots 1 and 2 into "A" ( the lowest setting value). 2. Check the effects. 3. Change slots 1 and 2 into "Y" ( the highest setting value) 4. Check for any change. 5. If there are no changes and the code is still the same as the original. Then, you don't have to worry about slots 1 and 2. 6. However, if there is a big change start altering slots 1 and 2 to see if you can improve or change the code. -------- | SLOT 3 | -------- The only letters you should only use for slots 1 and 2 are: Group 1: A P Z L G I T Y. Changing it to anything else will turn the code into an 8 digit code. Most frequently used letters goes in this order: Z A T P G L Y I - Charts on these will be provided on the revision. Subject to change. -------- | SLOT 4 | -------- This is the heart of the six digit code. Putting this code in will alter one of several aspects of the game: - Music - Graphics - Text - Battles ( for RPG Games ) Think of this slot as the most important part of the code. Also group 1 is used more often than group 2. ------------- | SLOTS 5 & 6 | ------------- I really don't have much to say about these slots. But, if you use a certain group for this slot try sticking to the same group. **************************** * PART 8: PROGRAMMING TIPS * **************************** Here are a few programming tips to help you out in creating and altering codes. CREATING A CODE --------------- *** Best way to find a code is to use only letters found in group 1. Group 1: A P Z L G I T Y *** Try using the same letters. Example: PPPPPP AAAAAA TTTTTT ZZZZZZ LLLLLL YYYYYY GGGGGG IIIIII Note: - Slots 1 and 2 really doesn't have to be the same letters. - Sometimes, this freezes your game. *** Try using alternate 2 letter patterns Example: APAPAP AZAZAZ ALALAL AGAGAG AIAIAI ATATAT AYAYAY *** Try using alternate 3 letter patterns Example: APZAPZ APLAPL APAAPA APIAPI APTAPT APGAPG APPAPP APYAPY *** Try making up words. Remember slot 3 must always belong to group 1. Example: PAGANS APPLES TEASES NIPPLE PILING GUILTY ALTERING CODES -------------- *** Slots 1 and 2 are the least of your worries. *** If you really want to change it, change slot 4. *** Changing slot 5 can fix a glitched code. Just remember to always keep it with the same group. *** When changing always try to keep your slots on the same group as it was originally. ************************* * PART 9: SNEAK PREVIEW * ************************* Since this is a a Beta, here is a sneak preview of what to expect in future handbooks. Remember these are just a portion of my notes. INFINITE FACTORS ---------------- 8 Digit Codes: Slot 1: S = 90% Slot 2: Z = 60% X = 40% Slot 7: V = 95% Slot 3: Always Group 2 6 Digit Codes: Slot 1: S = 85% Slot 2: Z = 75% X = 25% Slot 3: Always Group 1 NUMERICAL CODES --------------- I'll show you how to make numerical codes. Codes that uses numbers must = Slot 8: A or E SUBSTITUTE LETTERS ------------------ A = E P = O Z = X L = U G = K I = S T = V Y = N I'll show you when and how to use substitute letters. LEVEL SELECT CODES ------------------ Code Format: ------------ Slot 6 = Group 1 + Slot 7 & 8 = AA or EE -75% Slot 6 = Group 1 + Slot 7 & 8 = PA or PE -10% Slot 6 = Group 2 + Slot 7 & 8 = NY -5% 8 DIGIT GG GUIDE ---------------- Remember, I only wrote a little FAQ for 6 digit codes. Just wait till I start on the 8 digit codes. ************************ * PART 10: FINAL WORDS * ************************ I hope you enjoyrd reading this. Just wait till you see the FINAL version of this handbook. It's going to be huge!!! Writing this is much easier than writing the SNES GG HANDBOOK.
