TheSE discontinued - "Urban Nilsson and Christian Gyrling have decided to cancel their Super Nintendo emulator. With several excellent Super Nintendo emulators out there (Snes9X, SNEMul and ZSNES), Urban and Christian decided to hang it up. With TheSE officially canceled, they've decided to release one last final version of TheSe:
'We have decided to discontinue TheSE! There isn't much more to do on SNES emulation than SNES9X, ZSNES and SNEMul already have implemented or is about to implement. With the release of the Snes9x source we decided to stop programming TheSE (at least for now). TheSE ver 0.14 was never finished. Therefore we release TheSE ver 0.14 BETA as our last version.'" - Emu News Service

NSFE OpenGL Problems - "Gordon Hollingworth (author of NSFE) has encountered a problem using OpenGL, a problem that is seriously curtailing the project. (It's an error resulting from a ChoosePixelFormat call; see his site for the details). Gordon is looking for any OpenGL guru's to lend a helping hand. If you can help, please do." - Emu News Service

New Odyssey² game - "John Dondzila, author of several Vectrex and ColecoVision games is now tackling a brand new system: the Odyssey². As you can tell from this sneak-preview screenshot, this new game is inspired by the classic shooter/maze game Berzerk. Tentatively titled AMOK!, the game is nearly done and should be ready in a couple of weeks. John is polishing up the collision detection and will add sound effects as the final touch.
The Odyssey² was released way back in 1978 by Magnavox and featured an Intel 8048 CPU. And if I'm not mistaken this will be the first new game for the Odyssey² in 15 years." - Emu News Service

Retrocade update - "The Retrocade team is gearing up for Beta 9 of their private beta for beta testers. Their plan is to have everything in place (controllers, bug fixes, etc...). Many of the games have improved speed (all Z80 games do) and some (like ZeroZone) are over 300% better. After the release to the beta testing masses, they will be focusing on documentation and web site changes/updates. Following that, we'll release a release candidate. If no serious problems are found, it ships. What this meanas is that, if there are no serious problems, a PUBLIC release of Retrocade could be available shortly after the release candidate is tested by the beta testers. There is no known release date for anything, so don't hassle the authors." - Dave's Video Game Classics

More Zophar's Domain info - "Well, http://www.zophar.net was Zophar's Domain...until a huge problem occured. So it'll be down once again until we are settled into a new server, which could be at any time.
We originally thought that we were hacked. However, thanks to faraway and vore (beleve it or not), it has been determined that it was the owner of malicia, that ZD was hosted on, that put this 'hack' of a page up.
Personally, i don't really know what to think. I don't know why this was done ...ZD is down once again.. and will be back up.
...it always comes back. So, until then...sit tight." - Zophar, Zophar's Domain

Zophar's Domain info - "Well, this is just to let all of you know that ZD's not dead. It didn't 'move' and we didn't relocate to a gaysex site (heh). It was hacked. And currently, I have no way of doing anything. Just so you know that it's not dead...and I'm working on figuring out what to do next." - Zophar, Emu News Service

PalmGB update - "For registered used of PalmGB: PalmGB 1.5.0 will go into public beta testing on July, 31. I am really sorry for all the delays, but I'm currently in a rush for finishing my Ph.D. dissertation (it must be read on August, 20). You have to understand that it is my first priority for the next weeks. Nevertheless, this does not mean that you will not have lots of new features in future versions of PalmGB after this date. Thank you for your patience." - thanx to Chris Hickman, Archaic Ruins

Well, we aren't up on k0r3dump as planned. Apparently the hard drive still needs to be installed. Projected date is another week. I had not realized just how much stuff was still up on Netside. Of course all of it is several months old. People have been e-mailing me about broken links, etc. At this point, DO NOT BOTHER. They should all be fixed soon. The upside of being back on Simplenet is that our message board is still functional. Post if you want to. Especially since both Zophar's Message Domain and Emulation Camp boards are down. If you absolutely need a certain file, post a message on the board, do not fill up my e-mail. Thanx. Total site revamp is 40% complete.

Nintendo Entertainment System Architecture updated - "After about 2 years of not updating his NES technical documentation, Marat Fayzullin has released a new revision. However, it's just a minor update...still no sound information or mappers information is included in the document." - Zophar, Zophar's Domain

Zophar's Domain hacked? - It appears Zophar's Domain was hacked around 11:50PM EST today. All pages are gone except for this strange entrance page. There is no mention of who did this or why they did it.

Snes9X Win32 update - "I get quite a lot of mails from people keen to know when Snes9x for Windows95 will be updated. Well the team, and more importantly The Teach the porter, have been having problems with a major bug affecting the port. This has now been solved and pending any minor disasters a new version should be out within the week. Remember you heard it here first :)" - Secain, SNES Emulation Centre

    • Sega CD Tech Info - " I received the following e-mail from Eidolon regarding Sega CD emulation:
Today, I finished a huge update of the Sega CD section of my site. I have added two new documents which will prove to be very helpful for everyone who attempts to emulate the system. These documents are the US patents for the Sega CD device and for the CD country protection routines. Though these documents are rather non-specific (in terms of giving concrete memory addresses of the various functions), they describe the inner workings of the Sega CD very precisely. I have commented the documents where I think it was necessary or helpful. With these two documents now available, it should be a LOT easier to reverse-engineer some games in order to write an emulator, because now you actually KNOW what the various code routines of the games are supposed to do according to the patents. Feel free to mail me your comments or post them on my message board.
With these new documents, the already-available BIOS files and of course talented programmers, Sega CD emulation is now within reach!
You should check out his site if you're interested in emulating the Sega CD. - Zophar, Zophar's Domain

    • Yet another one bites the dust, Goodbye nEMU - "Well, the idiots have done it again. First Emucamp is closed due to Simplenet's ignorant belief in the gospel according to the IDSA. Then EmuViews is almost brought down due to it's own server's ignorance. But this on hurts the most.
It is with great sadness that I announce that nEMU is no more. Due to his disgust with the emulation scene in general, [_nIRV_] has seen fit to close nEMU. For those of you that think it's no big deal, you don't realize how many news updates were culled f rom nEMU for ZD, how many times [_nIRV_] selflessly shared info with me even before posting it on his own site.
Out of respect for [_nIRV_] and the passing of nEMU, I will be doing no more updates to ZD for the rest of the day and I urge the other staff to do so as well." - InVerse, Zophar's Domain
    • Snes9X.Com Hacked - Somebody hacked the Snes9X.Com website and posted [-NiRv-]'s final update on the page, along with other ranting. It was apparently done brute-force, the sysadmin apparently not picking a good password. The only evidence of the hacker's identity is <META NAME="Author" CONTENT="Nirvana"> in the HTML source. Perhaps [-NiRv-] felt like going out with a bang.. who knows. Anyway the update with the Snes9X info is now archived here. See above.

It's actualy kinda strange, they said it was agains the law to host a site like EmuViews and it was taking way to much bandwicth. The weird thing in the story is, they also wanted JoseQ to put a link to the homepage of the provider because EmuViews has lots of hits per day. Hmm. Anyway, the site will be down and may not be back until two weeks. If you can help, drop a note to JoseQ, thanks. It's the second big site to be closed by his provider, the first one was Emulation Camp." - nEMU

We will get our own server pretty soon it seems, thanks to Jasun Grenier! All CGI will be offline while we stay at Crosswinds. I am fooling with the layout again, expect something when we move to the new server. I am going to keep the archive up at TeleFragged until I recieve a response, however I will only update the news page there. Sorry Crosswinds is slow, but I can't help it... That's all for now.. I still am not quite sure what is going to happen in the near future.

The project was abandoned by its original author, and the source code was released. The MESS component that emulated a NES machine was based on xNES source. Late last month, the xNES project was resumed by a new author that tried to graft changes from the xNES beta never released, and the bugfixes the MESS team put out. • Well, the worst has happened. I recieved the following e-mail today:
      --
We were talking last night, the owners of TeleFragged and we were deciding your sites fate. You are a huge amount of space on the server about 350 megs and your hits are less then notable. We have plans in the works to get a larger emulation site in that will do the whole 9 yards.
I am sorry to say with your current hard drive space and your hits we would like you to be removed from TeleFragged. I know this is not what you want to hear but we have to consider the other sites we host.
      I hope you understand.

So now, I don't know what to do. We can't move back to SimpleNet after the recent EmuCamp incident. ClassicGaming.com won't have us. I'll try a few other places.. TRP will archive the files for now, until we find a place to put them. I'll mail ZD, AR, and ENS to see if they will put up a notice up. Other than that... I just don't know. Maybe we'll set up a temporary Xoom account... or maybe we'll stay here and become and news & info service.. Any help is appreciated.
